The safest city in South America - Montevideo
Nobody visits Uruguay
Uruguay is one of the most expensive countries in South America, but it's also definitely the safest, definitely the cleanest and definitely the calmest, but there's not a lot to do there.
We flew from Rio to Montevideo, with the idea of staying for a few days then getting the ferry to Buenos Aires in Argentina, which is what we did.
There's not a lot to say about Montevideo except what I said above. The people are friendly, it's calm, it looks nice, but it's not really a tourist sort of place.
Not really got a reason to revisit, but I'd rate it quite highly in terms of a place that I'd like to live.
